Q: Hello, where did you go to college?
A: My name is Kimi. I attended the University of Electronic Science and Technology in 2004, majoring in Communication Engineering. My university is located in Sichuan Province, in the western part of China, which is quite far from my hometown. I developed a passion for coding during my time at university and tried to solve many practical problems with code. This led me to become a programmer after graduation.

Q: Where are you from? Which province?
A: My hometown is in Jiangxi Province, which is located to the north of Guangdong Province. It's not a well-known place, primarily known for agriculture. Recently, it's become famous for its very spicy Jiangxi cuisine.
Q: So why didn't you go to university in Jiangxi, but instead went to Sichuan?
A: I wanted to be far away from home, haha. I felt that what I saw at home was too limited, so I went to a place that was quite far away. Of course, in the end, I found that Sichuan and Jiangxi are quite similar.

**Q: Where are you from? Which province?**
**A:** I’m from Jiangxi Province, which is north of Guangdong. It's not very well-known, mainly an agricultural area, but recently it’s become famous for its very spicy Jiangxi cuisine.
**Q: So why did you go to university in Sichuan instead of staying in Jiangxi?**
**A:** I wanted to get far from home, haha. I felt things were a bit limited where I grew up, so I went somewhere farther away. But in the end, I found that Sichuan and Jiangxi aren’t all that different!

Q: When did you join Tencent? Why did you join Tencent?
A: I joined Tencent in 2011 and started working on Tencent Cloud, almost as one of the earliest employees there. In 2010, I read an article on Facebook that said social networking would be the future, and I was very interested in social networking. I thought Tencent was China's Facebook, so I only interviewed with Tencent and got in.
Q: Why have you worked at Tencent Cloud for such a long time?
A: I originally wanted to work on social networks, like WeChat and QQ. But because I had some cloud computing skills, the company asked me to join Tencent Cloud. I think working at Tencent Cloud is very, very hard, but it's very important. Cloud computing provides our customers with good infrastructure, and they also like me a lot.

In 2010, I read an article on Facebook saying that social networking would be the future, and it really interested me. I saw Tencent as China’s Facebook, so I only applied there—and got in.
**Q: Why have you stayed with Tencent Cloud for so long?**
**A:** I originally wanted to work on social networks like WeChat and QQ. But since I had some cloud computing skills, the company assigned me to Tencent Cloud. Working here has been really challenging, but it’s also very important—cloud computing gives our customers solid infrastructure, and they seem to like me here too.

Q: What are you responsible for at work? What are the challenges and significance of your role?
A: I am currently in charge of Tencent Cloud's computing products, including virtual machines, GPUs, and so on. The main challenge is that although we provide good infrastructure, customers think it's not enough. For example, they want more operations-related features, which are often difficult to standardize into unified products. We spend a lot of time catering to individual users' needs. Of course, after thirteen years here, we know how to handle these situations. The biggest challenge now is that my programming skills are not enough for my needs. I hope to serve customers overseas, such as those in the United States and Singapore. The significance of this job is that we can help customers solve problems, especially in industries outside of the internet. Their businesses are not similar to Tencent's, but serving the digital systems of traditional industries is more valuable.

Another challenge now is that my programming skills need to evolve to better serve international customers, like those in the U.S. and Singapore. While their businesses are different from Tencent’s, supporting the digitalization of traditional industries is incredibly valuable.

Q: What do you think are the strengths and weaknesses of your English skills?
A: I can read English fairly well, that's about the only strength. Other aspects like listening, speaking, and writing are quite poor.
Q: What is your goal in learning English?
A: I hope to be able to communicate with others in English.
